Chapter 4 Assignments

REQUIRED from the Workbook

• Assignment No. 12 (pages 29-30): Mozart Piano Sonata K. 280, III, bars 1-8 as indicated in the instructions.
• Assignment No. 14 (page 33): Bach French Suite in C Minor, BWV 813. Don't worry about the second paragraph "interpret the line of the right hand as moving into and out of inner voices."
• Assignment No. 17 (pages 39-40): Bach, Prelude in F major, BWV 927, bars 1-8 as indicated in the instructions.

OPTIONAL: pick any one exercise

For each example, prepare an imaginary continuo, as well as a more thorough reduction. Each example will contain either a linear progression or a linear intervallic pattern, or both. I've arranged the examples in the approximate order of difficulty.

• Mozart: Piano Sonata, K. 284, III, Variation 7, bars 1 - 4 (linear progression)
• Handel: Keyboard Suite No. 8 in F minor, Courante, bars 7 - 1
• Bach: Prelude in D Major (WTC I), bars 1 - 3 (linear progression)
• Mozart: Piano Sonata, K. 545, I, bars 63 - 66 (linear progression and intervallic pattern)
